Jeremy Coleman, the founder of Learn Guitar Austin, is a guitarist, educator, and music therapist. He completed his undergraduate degree in classical guitar performance at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he was named Top-Graduate for the School of Music.

He went on to receive his certification in music therapy from Sam Houston State University. Jeremy began teaching guitar full-time in 2007 at the Art of Music studio in Woodlands, TX.
Jeremy received two Master’s Degrees- one in Music and Human Learning from The University of Texas at Austin and another in Special Education from Texas Tech University.

In 2009, he began working as a music therapist with veterans who played guitar, songwriting, and improvisation to explore personal thoughts and feelings related to traumatic events experienced during military deployment

In 2010, Jeremy began working as an independent music therapy practitioner in Austin, Texas. He utilizes various therapeutic techniques to assist clients with disabilities and mental health needs in reaching their goals.

For more than ten years, Jeremy has collaborated with Austin Classical Guitar to provide curriculum materials and consultation services. In 2017, Jeremy and Austin Classical Guitar created letplayguitar.org, a free, online guitar learning site for students that are blind. This resource provides recorded, online, audio lessons and braille music materials that are free of charge for anyone in the world.

Jeremy travels nationwide to teach, present and consult with other music professionals about the unique musical needs of students with visual impairments and children with disabilities.

Jeremy has been a guest lecturer at several universities, including the University of Texas at Austin, Southern Methodist University. He has also presented at many music education conferences throughout the US.

Jeremy’s music students have performed at the Texas State Capital, featured in Austin Monthly Magazine, NPR, and local news. Jeremy is a published researcher in peer-reviewed journals. He performs regularly and is the founder and teacher of Learn Guitar Austin.

Currently, Jeremy is a full-time middle/high school music teacher at a state residential school for the blind in Texas. He is a certified music teacher, teacher of students with visual impairments, and special educator with the State of Texas. He is also a board-certified music therapist. Jeremy is a certified Apple Teacher and Level 1 and 2 Google Educator.
